Many times, we get obsessed with body images and eating habits. That's why there are thousands of diets on the market today. A healthy diet is a diet where you see results in the long run. It is one that you enjoy and follow for a long time, without missing out on the nutrition.
The number one tip to a healthy diet is avoiding restrictive diets. It seems like there is a diet for every situation out there today. The word "diet" seems to be abused by all of us. We want results fast, and we are willing to do everything we can in our diet to achieve our weight goal.
Always eat breakfast. When we wake up from a long sleep, our body needs energy. Breakfast provides us the energy needed to keep us going for the day. Have a piece of fruit, a small glass of 100% fruit juice and some protein to make you feel full until lunch time. Avoid too much coffee or sugar.
Avoid meal skipping. It is a myth that skipping meals help us lose weight. In general, we tend to gain more since we get hungry and overeat, or eat not so healthy foods.
Eat fruits and vegetables. Variety and moderation are keys to a healthy diet. Fruits and vegetables provide us with the nutrients that our body needs. They are high in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Consume at least one fruit and two veggies each meal. Rely on the Plate Method and Food Pyramid for more information.
Consume dairy products and carbs. Examples of these are low-fat yogurt, milk, and cheese. They are loaded in vitamin C and D, important mainly for your bones. Carbohydrates fuel our body and brain, and we need them. Instead of avoiding them, we need to control the portion sizes.
