While there are many ways to diet to lose weight, to gain weight is not always as easy as you think it would be. To gain weight the healthy way you can not just sit on the couch eating chocolate and not exercising. You still need to follow a strict diet and exercise plan to put the weight on the right way and to put on lean muscle mass and not fat.
There is more to gaining weight then to just adding on more calories. first you need to find out what the calorie intake is that you need to maintain the weight you are already at. Every pound of body weight equals 3500 calories. So if you add an extra 500 calories each day you will end up gaining one pound a week. You will need to gradually increase your physical activities and consume most of your new calories through complex carbohydrates. Whole grains will be the best for you since they take longer to break down once in your system.
If you add lots of raw vegetables and fruit to your diet, along with frequent small meals throughout the day, it will also help to put the weight on. You will need to avoid some things as well for instance coffee, alcohol, soda and all types of processed foods. These are not the good calories you want; all they will do is put fat on around your waist and that is not healthy. As with any type of diet it is best to try to get at least six to eight glasses of water in every day to keep your body hydrated.
